Supplementary Planning Documents

Supplementary Planning Documents and Sustainability Appraisals

In response to a need to aid clarity and to supplement policies contained within the Local Plan, the Borough Council has produced ten Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs). In conjunction with the SPDs, the Borough Council has also prepared Sustainability Appraisals (SAs). These identify the likely and significant environmental, economic and social effects of the SPD and assess the extent to which they will achieve the goals of sustainable development. The documents were consulted on during a six week consultation period held between the 31st October 2005 and 12th December 2005.

The SPDs were adopted by full Council on 27th April 2006 and are available to download from the list below. The Biodiversity SPD is an interim version; an amended version with more detailed plans is currently being published.

Due to a change in national policy an amendment to the affordable housing threshold within the Affordable Housing SPD was approved by Planning Committee on 4th April 2007.  More details of this amendment can be viewed here
