Building Control
Most types of building work must have building regulation approval and the Council operates a full range of services in respect of this from plan checking to site inspections, ensuring that buildings meet the required standards.
Advice is available to anyone intending to carry out building work.
Building Control provide the following services:

- Access Grant funding - A grant scheme that provides funding to encourage the improvement of access and facilities for disabled persons.
- Dangerous Structures - Inspection of building or structures reported as being dangerous.
- Boarding up unoccupied Premises - Securing of buildings that poses a potential danger to the safety of people
- Street Numbering and naming - Numbering and naming of new commercial and residential properties
- Additional advice for the Professional Builders and Architects - New initiatives to provide guidance and advice to professionals in the building industry.
