Planning Policy & Implementation

What do we do?

• We prepare strategic planning policies against which development decisions are made. This consists of:
  - Erewash Borough Saved Policies - adopted 28th July 2008
  - Local Development Framework – this new planning system will eventually supersede the Local Plan and will consist of a portfolio of documents.
• We carry out research and monitoring on a range of issues as part of our Local Development Framework evidence base to support the development and review of our planning policies. We also produce an Annual Monitoring Report each year which sets out our progress on developing our new planning policies and monitors the effectiveness of our existing ones.
• We produce masterplans and planning briefs that set out our expectations for development and issues that we expect developers to consider when submitting planning applications.
• We facilitate and manage regeneration and environmental improvement projects.
