Planning - Homepage

THE COUNCIL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR A WIDE RANGE OF PLANNING SERVICES. THESE INCLUDE:

Policy & Development

The Policy & Development Team provides services in:

  • Conservation and Design – We advise on the built environment, dealing with all matters relating to historic buildings and historic areas and provide design guidance where appropriate.
  • Economic Development – We promote economic development and regeneration within the Borough through the implementation of the Erewash Economic Regeneration Strategy and by working closely with the Erewash Partnership.
  • Housing Strategy– We provide strategic housing functions which include the production and delivery of the Housing Strategy; research on housing needs, local representation on the Supporting People Programme, and partnership working to ensure the delivery of appropriate affordable and vulnerable peoples housing in the Borough.
  • Planning Policy & Implementation – We provide a strategic planning framework through the Local Plan and the Local Development Framework against which development decisions are made. The policies within the framework set out how we will meet our housing and economic needs whilst protecting and enhancing our environment. We also facilitate and manage regeneration and environmental improvement projects.
  • Technical Support – We support the team by carrying out; research and monitoring of data and statistics, mapping, surveying, document production and publication and planning searches.

Development Control and Enforcement

The Development Control and Enforcement team provide services in:

  • Development Control - processes and determines planning applications in accordance with the Local Plan and other material considerations, processes and determines applications for adverts, listed building consent, agricultural buildings etc and provides development control advice.
  • Enforcement - investigates unauthorised development and instigates enforcement action where appropriate, monitors new development and planning legal agreements and provides advice on planning enforcement matters. To report an alleged breach of planning control email planning@erewash.gov.uk. We will acknowledge your email within one working day.
  • Tree Preservation - Erewash is rich in natural assets and has a substantial number of mature native species of tree which are considered to be worthy of protection through Tree Preservation Orders or Group Tree Preservation Orders. In addition trees within the Boroughs Conservation Areas require consent from the Council prior to works being carried out to them. Development Services Division

Development Services is comprised of two sections:

  • Planning
  • Building Design.

The offices are situated in the Town Hall, Long Eaton, Derbyshire NG10 1HU Telephone 0115 907 2244.

Friday 4th April

The Government has formally announced today the increase in planning fees will take effect from 6th April 2008.  The Council will be obliged to charge the new fees at the time a valid (i.e. complete and correct) application is received.

1APP – Standard Application Forms

From 6th April 2008 all planning and related applications must be submitted using the Standard Application Forms (1APP)

Application forms are available to download here and paper copies can be provided by the Council on request.

Although the project is called 1APP, there are actually 25 variations of the forms that you may need (depending on the type of application you are submitting). Further information is available from the Planning Portal.

 

Validation of Planning Applications

From 6th April 2006 all planning and related applications must accord with the requirements of the national and local lists for validation.  The Council's 'local' list was published for consultation earlier this year.
