The Erewash Community Safety Team has increased in size over the past few years from one Community Safety Officer to a much bigger team.
- The Community Safety Officer(CSO) has responsibility for co-ordinating the work of the Partnership, acting as representative at local, county and regional level. Supported by the Community Safety Unit within Safer Derbyshire.
- The Assistant Community Safety Officer has been appointed to support this role by undertaking some of the operational duties, allowing the CSO to work at a more strategic level.
- A Partnership Analyst was appointed jointly funded by Erewash Borough Council, Derbyshire County Council and Derbyshire Police to provide analysis of crime and disorder patters problem solving and priority area identification, partnership performance data and project evaluation are also key services provided by the Analyst. The post is based at County Hall, Matlock within the Safer Derbyshire unit at Derbyshire County Council.
- Domestic Violence Co-ordinator has been appointed in a post shared with Amber Valley. This role reflects recognition of the need for accessible resources and support services for survivors and perpetrators of domestic violence in Erewash. In 2004 drop in clinics were started across the Borough. This post has been appointed using short-term funding, however the partnership is currently seeking mainstreaming opportunities with our statutory partners.
- To provide a closer working relationship with the Police, a Sergeant has been seconded to the Partnership from Derbyshire Constabulary. This has improved the information sharing and working practices between the Partners and the Police, especially at an operational and intelligence level.
- The council, in its 2008/9 budget, has mainstreamed the Anti-Social Behaviour Co-ordinator post. This means that the post is now a full-time permanent post within the Council and replaces the short-term contract. The post's aim is to address the growing concern and incidence of anti-social behaviour throughout the Borough. This post will develop a more coordinated and effective approach to dealing with this problem including a consistent approach to Anti-Social Behaviour and other measures.
Whilst this team represents the Partnership, it is important to recognise that representatives from all partner agencies work under this umbrella and therefore constitute to the wider Erewash Community Safety Partnership team.
Finally, we wish to involve our community in reducing crime and fear of crime through consultation and interaction.
