Technology Boost to Target Vehicle Crime in Erewash
A pioneering new method of tackling vehicle crime is being used to target vehicle crime in Erewash funded by Derbyshire County Council Community Safety and Erewash Community Safety Partnership.
‘Talking’ machines which play a crime warning message have been installed next to pay and display ticket dispensers in car parks in Erewash.
They play the message: “this is a request from your local community safety partnership – please do not leave any items in your vehicle” when motorists buy their ticket.
These machines are accompanied by eye-catching new permanent signs in the car parks and posters on the back of toilet doors in some hotels, pubs and golf clubs.
In addition to these activities Erewash Community Safety Partnership will be promoting the same community safety message of REMOVE ALL PROPERTY FROM VEHICLES message on the reverse of the pay and display tickets in Erewash’s car parks.
Tackling vehicle crime is a priority for Erewash Community Safety Partnership, we are delighted to be utilising new approaches to raising awareness of motorists and letting potential thieves know we are on their case. Talking Signs are a first for Erewash and Derbyshire.
In Erewash the audible warning machines will be placed in the Pimlico car park, at the Albion Centre and on Bath Street and in car parks at East Street, Station Road and South Street. One will also be placed in the railway station car park in Long Eaton. These car parks will also feature the new permanent signs warning motorists not to leave valuables in their vehicles. The signs will also be placed at:
The Harrington Arms in Tamworth Road, Trent Lock Golf Club, the Eaton Farm Pub Car Park and the Bulls Head Car Park.
